THE REPUBLIC OF SRPSKA MINISTRY OF THE INTERIOR IMPLEMENTING ‘’STOP CORRUPTION’’ CAMPAIGN

Today, the Republic of Srpska Ministry of the Interior, in cooperation with the USA Embassy in BIH and ICITAP Programme, is organising the preventive action ‘’Stop Corruption’’ at Krajina Square (Trg Krajine). On this occasion, police members informed citizens and distributed promotional material related to procedures on reporting and processing the criminal offence of corruption, and citizens could complete the questionnaire there.
The Head of Economic Crime Department of the Police Administration Banja Luka, Mr Miroslav Kalabić, said that 310 criminal offences of corruption were detected and 179 reports against 252 persons were submitted during this year in the Republic of Srpska.  
Head Kalabić pointed out that the citizens are one of the main partners and sources of information related to criminal offences of corruption, and that the police together with the competent prosecutor’s offices, have to act based on the information received regarding corruption.
In addition, he invited all citizens to report corruption to police through free phone info line 122, phone number 051/219-300, or through internet address of the Republic of Srpska Ministry of the Interior, i.e. ‘’Report Corruption’’ application.
Spokesperson of the Republic Public Prosecutor’s Office, Ms Dragica Tojagić, said that prosecutor’s offices of the Republic of Srpska raised 57 indictments against 73 persons for the criminal offences of corruption for the first 11 months of the year, and the most common criminal offences were the following:  ‘Abuse of Office and Powers’, ‘Accepting and Offering Bribe’’, and ‘Trading in Influence’.   In addition, she pointed out that conditional sentences were imposed in more than 50 % of cases, based on the data of the High Judicial and Prosecutorial Council of BIH.
