MINISTER AND DIRECTOR VISITED THE FIRE LOCATION IN SUTJESKA NATIONAL PARK

The Republic of Srpska Minister of the Interior, Mr Siniša Karan, and the Republic of Srpska Police Director, Mr Siniša Kostrešević, visited today the fire location in Sutjeska National Park, where firefighters, Civil Protection, Helicopter Service of the Republic of Srpska and the helicopters of Armed Forces of BIH were fighting with large fire.
Minister Karan said that, in cases of natural disasters, a country is supposed to show its strengths and capacities, regardless of all the barriers, politics or conflicts. ‘We are here at the spot to obtain the information on the situation on fire locations in Sutjeska National Park. All of us can be grateful to our Helicopter Service for their extraordinary efforts, as well as the members of the Ministry and our Helicopter Unit, but also firefighting units and Civil Protection for their full contribution. The most important message is that fires are not extinguished, but their intensity is lower. The critical places are being monitored and this shall continue tonight and tomorrow. There will definitely be a lot of work. We can also say that this is a lesson, too. This situation proved that the Republic of Srpska and its capacities needed to be developed, especially when it comes to this type of disasters, so we can act independently in these and similar situations’, Minister Karan said.
He thanked the Republic of Serbia for offering their resources immediately, as well as the Armed Forces of BIH, the Helicopter Service of the Republic of Srpska and all others for participating in extinguishing the great fire that threatens to destroy Sutjeska National Park, public property, natural wealth of the Republic of Srpska.
